The Laser Plasma Laboratory (LPL) of the Townes Laser institute has positions open at the Scientist level in the field of Laser Light Filamentation. The research program in this field at LPL is now expanding considerably with the acquisition of major long-term funding, and through its leadership of a new multi-university consortium in filamentation. The breadth of this program calls for expertise in many areas including filamentation processes, molecular optics, attoscience, meta-optics, THz emission non-linear wave optics and high intensity laser light interaction with matter, Candidates having experience in these areas, in both experiments and theory are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will be expected to take leadership positions in several areas of investigation, taking responsibilities for experimental and/or theoretical programs, their development and management, the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, and the coordination of the LPL filamentation program with other teams within LPL and the Townes Institute, and with consortium members in the US, Canada, Europe and US national laboratories. The Laser Plasma Laboratory (LPL) of the Townes Laser institute seeks candidates to fill a position open at the Scientist/Senior Scientist level in the field of EUV source development and applications. LPL has a long history in laser-plasma EUV source development for lithography, metrology and high-resolution microscopy. This has included the development of high-power, high rep-rate, low-debris tin-droplet laser plasma sources with kW-class solid state lasers. LPL is initiating a new program in this field, and is seeking an experienced scientist to take a leadership position in new experimental and theoretical research programs with both laser plasma and high harmonic generation (HHG) EUV sources. Ideally, candidates should have familiarity with both experimental and theoretical aspects of EUV laser plasma sources. Strong experience in the development of HHG sources is of lesser importance, the Townes Laser Institute already has a strong commitment in this area, but experimental experience in x-ray and EUV plasma diagnostics would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to help develop new programs in this field and to identify future industrial needs, to lead a research team and mentor of graduate and undergraduate students.

The Laser Plasma Laboratory of the Townes Laser institute seeks applicants for an exciting new initiative in ultrafast laser science. For several years now LPL has maintained an efficient program in ultrafast CEP laser development focused on advanced high power, high rep-rate OPCPA systems. In parallel the Laboratory has funded programs on high power ultrafast fiber lasers and next generation solid-state amplifier development. In filling this new position in High Power Ultrafast Lasers, the Laboratory seeks to create a strongly focused new program of development by drawing from these programs. The successful candidate for this position will therefore take a leadership role in this expansion, assuming responsibilities for experimental programs, future program development and management, the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, and coordination with other teams within LPL and the Townes Institute. It is expected the candidate will have an intimate knowledge of advanced ultrafast, CPA/OPCPA, CEP, and ultrafast diagnostic techniques. Experience in high harmonic generation, EUV, and THz emission would also be advantageous.

We are seeking a UCF student interested in a part-time position (20 hrs/week) as a junior electronics engineer. Typical tasks involve the construction, testing and repair of pulsed electronic control and high voltage (< 10kV) power equipment, the design and fabrication of specialized electronic circuits. Applicants must have previous relevant experience in electronics design and construction and the ability to . This is not a work-experience position. This engineer will participate with highly motivated research teams, in a dedicated Electronics Laboratory, with the expectation of research experience and publications. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Driver’s license and personal vehicle are necessary. Work time can be flexible with course schedule.
