Charles Townes dies at 99

CharlesTownesCharles Townes, the inventor of the concept of the laser, after whom the Townes Laser Institute is named, died yesterday (January 27, 2015) at the age of 99.  He recently was failing in health and died on the way to the hospital. We will all remember his last visit to UCF in 2012 for CREOL’s 25th Anniversary and the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Townes Laser Institute.
